Contaminated Blood Inquiry - victims must play central role

I welcome the recent, and long overdue announcement by the government of an inquiry into the contaminated blood scandal. I raised the view of a constituent, Michael, who along with other victims and families is demanding that victims are able to play a key and central role in any enquiry, and are able to shape justice – justice that cannot not come a day too soon. I will continue to follow this closely and hold the government to account to make sure that actions speak louder than words, and that this issue is considered in a transparent and open way. Crucially it must involve those most affected by the tragedy, if we are to secure real truth and justice.
