It has been an honour to have been re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Weaver Vale in December 2019, after having first been elected in the 2017 election.
Prior to becoming an MP, I’ve had a career both in and out of politics: I spent a long time working in careers services, helping to get young people into jobs. I also worked as a local councillor in Manchester City Council, served as a trade union activist, and worked for Angela Rayner and Andy Burnham.
Previously, I’ve served as the PPS to the Shadow Work and Pensions team and as Shadow Employment Minister. Now, I work as Shadow Housing Minister and work representing Labour nationally on the cladding crisis, social housing, leasehold reform and retirement housing.
I tirelessly speak up for local residents in the House of Commons and hold regular surgeries to help local constituents.
