People living at The Decks in Runcorn are finding life incredibly difficult at the moment as victims of the cladding scandal.

Their situation is representative of thousands of unsafe homes still clad in flammable materials over three-and-a-half years on from Grenfell when 72 people tragically lost their lives.

The Government has been dragged kicking and screaming into action by campaigners, whether that’s Grenfell United or people at The Decks, as part of Liverpool Cladiators.

As you may remember in my last update, I led for Labour’s frontbench team in our opposition day debate on the cladding scandal. One week later the Government promised £3.5bn in additional funding to get buildings fixed.

It sounds like a huge amount of money, and it is. But it’s nowhere near enough, and many buildings, including several of the blocks in The Deck, won’t be able to access it.
