My private member’s bill aimed at slashing the cost of school uniforms has cleared the Commons!
After an eventful report stage and third reading, where some Tory MPs tried to ‘speak out’ or filibuster the Bill, it passed and has now made its way to the House of Lords, where it is being sponsored by Baroness Lister.
It’s now also passed its second reading in the Lords so has only a few more stages to go before it can become an Act of Parliament. However, the parliamentary session will be coming to a close in a few weeks’ time, so the bill needs to make progress quickly before time runs out.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed and really hope to be able to deliver some good news very soon.
