Mike Amesbury MP presents Witton Chimes landlord Adam Prestage with a Local Lockdown Hero award on behalf of CAMRA.
It was a privilege to present Local Lockdown Hero Awards to two Northwich landlords on behalf of North Cheshire CAMRA for going above and beyond.
As the rules constantly changed, Justin Hyam of The Coachman Inn at Hartford made sure regulars didn’t go without the finest cask ales by delivering it himself by bike and even on foot.
And he turned the pub into a chippy selling the highest quality fish and chips which customers collected outside in their cars. Out of lockdown, customers can still use the takeaway service or dine indoors where the menu now features a wide range of fish dishes alongside traditional pub fare.
Adam Prestage runs the Witton Chimes in Northwich town centre, a music and sports bar selling fabulous real ales. But his award relates to supporting his customers during the pandemic.
Adam set up a Go Fund Me page to help pay for the funeral of popular local man and DJ Simon, who suffered with health problems and sadly died of Covid. He also organised a charity football match for two regulars – James who nearly died from Covid and a young man Darren who suffered a stroke. Both are now in wheelchairs and unable to work.
